I have tonnes of pink himalayan salt in stock and thought i would make a floral soap topped with it.</div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
This is a cocoa butter based recipe, pink clay has been swirled through the soap to give it a feminine appearance. Essential oils of ylang ylang, bergamot and grapefruit were added. The essential oil combination made the mixture seize slightly so i had to quickly pour the mixture into the mould. Lastly the soap was sprinkles with a genourous amount of pink hymalyan salt.</div>

On one of those days where i was fantasising about cinnamon pretzels from Brent Cross shopping centre, I decided to make Cinnamon & Vanilla Soap. </div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
I am addicted to anything sweet with cinnamon.....cinnamon pretzels, cinnamon whirls, cinnamon caramelised apples....so this soap was going to have that sweet sugary touch to it.</div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
Cinnamon & Vanilla Soap is made using a cocoa butter recipe, fine ground cinnamon is added which gives a nice warm brown colour, cinnamon and vanilla essential oils are added to give that warm cinnamon pretzel scent i love so much. I sprinkled raw brown sugar on top....a bit too much i think, some of it caramelised but most of it is still nice and whole.</div>
<br />
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
Cinnamon & vanilla soap is fully cured and is listed in my <a href="http://folksy.com/items/3430886-Cinnamon-Vanilla-Soap" target="_blank">Folksy shop</a>.</div>

During Christmas i made my first batch of soap with bay leaf essential oil and it smelt divine, really spicy, aromatic and festive. </div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
Since it was such a good seller i decided to make a similar soap, i was also trying to go for the 'old spice' scent and try to cater for the male market. </div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">This is a cocoa butter based recipe and the red wine colour is from water infused with madder room. The essential oils added were bay leaf, cinnamon, clove and orange.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Spice soap is fully cured and is listed in my <a href="http://folksy.com/items/3430790-Spice-Soap" target="_blank">Folksy shop</a> </span><br />

<div style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">My Gardener's Soap has been a big hit at fairs but i felt it needed a change. The original soap was scented with lavender, rosemary, tea tree and lemongrass essential oils and i added calendula leaves for its soothing properties and yellow strandy appearance. I had also added pumice to my last few batches but the gritty sandy texture i wasn't keen on.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">My new 'Gardener's Soap' is scented with lavender & rosemary essential oils, its a real refreshing scent which I'm loving. I was unsure on the colour...light brown or green, so i went with green since its more of a garden colour, and it was achieved using green clay. Poppy seeds were added for a nice gentle scrub, its one of my favourite natural exfoliators that i love using in soaps, and i have had lots of positive feedback on the poppy exfoliating soaps.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">During curing the tops were slightly white with soda ash so i immersed the tops into a bowl of boiling water to dissolve any whiteness and this also gave them their shiny appearance.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Gardeners soap has fully cured and is listed in my <a href="http://folksy.com/items/3428610-Gardeners-Soap" target="_blank">Folksy shop</a> </span></div>

The traditional Indian 'Thalis' are super tasty and taste almost as good as mums food. I have only been to 'Masala Zone' in Angel and Covent Garden' and the decor in both are mesmerising, quirky and colourful just like a bollywood scene.<br />
I came across these photos which were taken last year and thought i would put them up.<br />

I have recently made a batch of rose soap with lashings of shea butter coloured with pink clay and scented with rose and geranium essential oils.</div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">This is the first time that i have layered the colours, i usually just go for the whole block of pink then top with rose petals, but this time i wanted to do something a little different.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Rose soap has finished curing and is listed for sale in my <a href="http://folksy.com/items/3364106-Rose-Soap" target="_blank">Folksy shop</a>.</span><br />

A few weeks back i decided to order a soap stamp with my logo from Lasercutz.co.uk. </div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
The stamp is made from acrylic (perspex) which gives it good compressibility. </div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
The soap came through the post a few days back and i have only tried it on my new batch of 'Rose & Geranium' Soap but I'm already in LOVE with it!!! </div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">These are a few pictures taken soon as i sliced the soap. I was instructed to make a batch test and stamp at different stages throughout the curing process, however my first attempt proved success full so i just stamped away.</span><br />

</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">When i make rose soaps i naturally think of simple and classic designs and recipes. I usually like to keep them just as 'Rose soap' with not too much other scents or colourings added....i honestly don't know why, its just a personal preference ( i also make a rustic rose soap with a lovely woody scent, i have blogged on this soap before)</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
</div><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I wanted to achieve a really vintage look for this soap apart from rustic and natural, so i used a shea butter recipe and added the tiniest amount of pink clay to give a faint pink colour which i love. I didn't want the soap to be pink or white/cream so this really pale pink colour looks perfect against the pink rose petals. I scattered rose petals on top of the soap purely for the decorative effect and exfoliating properties. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Overall i achieved what i was aiming to produce, a lovely creamy soap which reminds me of a vintage english rose garden !! </span><br />

</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Since i was visiting Covent Garden today i thought i would go and find this little stall and check out their handmade soaps, and I'm so glad i did!!! The soaps are fantastic, natural, rustic, homely and they look and smell absolutely amazing. I asked the assistant kindly if i could take some pictures of the stall and she was happy for me to snap away.</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NuXW02gp9gs/TsVA-a3YSuI/AAAAAAAAANI/vBL4P42m0Ss/s1600/IMG00394-20111117-1520.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NuXW02gp9gs/TsVA-a3YSuI/AAAAAAAAANI/vBL4P42m0Ss/s400/IMG00394-20111117-1520.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />

The few photo's i did take i was not happy with and honestly i was a little embarrassed to put them up...(i am still working on my photographic skills !!! )</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I made 10 different batches in total all seen in the first picture below, and i will be wrapping them in lovely christmas wrap which i brought from paperchase this week. The soaps are on the curing rack and still have a week to go, when they are ready and packed i will try to take a few decent photos.</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sIsbFVNLADI/TsA9pXpNvWI/AAAAAAAAAL4/ZMHz4iRBkRM/s1600/IMG_2792.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sIsbFVNLADI/TsA9pXpNvWI/AAAAAAAAAL4/ZMHz4iRBkRM/s320/IMG_2792.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><u><b>LEFT ROW-TOP TO BOTTOM</b></u></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></div><div style="color: #741b47; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>YLANG YLANG & GRAPEFRUIT</b></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">A creamy shea butter soap scented with ylang ylang and grapefruit. </div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">When i added the essential oils the mixture started to thicken in the pot, so i had to work really quick and you can see the bumpy look of of the soap. I added a line of cocoa through the centre and topped with chamomile and heather flowers.</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GeVwT7kXpR0/TsBA6iPGuPI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/J5BZ3MOYO_0/s1600/IMG_2721.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GeVwT7kXpR0/TsBA6iPGuPI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/J5BZ3MOYO_0/s320/IMG_2721.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
</div><div style="color: #741b47; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>ORANGE & FRANKINCENSE</b></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I have already blogged on this soap in a previous post so i wont go on about it too much. </div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
</div><div style="color: #741b47; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>PINK CLAY & GERANIUM</b></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">One of my favourite soaps with tonnes of creamy shea butter. I added 1 tbsp of pink clay per lb of fat but the colour was not as strong as i had hoped for!! </div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
</div><div style="color: #741b47; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>WINTER SPICE</b></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I love the smell of this soap, it reminds me of 'Bakewell Tarts'. </div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I infused my water with madder root and added it to the lye, the outcome was a lovely pale pink colour, however it seems to be fading in the centre. the soap is scented with bay leaf, cinnamon, clove and orange essential oils and the soap is topped with poppy seeds for exfoliation.</div><div style="color: #741b47; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
</div><div style="color: #741b47; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>CHOCOLATE & PEPPERMINT</b></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Smells Divine....almost like real chocolate!!! the kids are waiting eagerly for this little beauty to cure</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />

I added 1 tsp carrot powder for colour but i think next time i would definitely add a lot more for a more vibrant colour. I have also added a little orange peel for exfoliation and dried orange slices purely for decorative effect. </div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I had an intention of adding brown sugar to the recipe which would probably give a caramelyness to the colour but i forgot to prepare the syrup and when i realised i had already poured (gutted!!!!)</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />

During winter i find it somewhat more difficult to wake up at 5.30am so i thought i would scent it with lemongrass and litsea cuba, a real zingy fragrance which will hopefully help me wake up. I have added calendula petals throughout the mixture and also topped the soap with it.</span><br />
